Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday launched a scathing on separatists for “maintaining silence” over the decapitated body of Hajin resident in Bandipora district, who was abducted by suspected militants.Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, 25 was abducted yesterday from his home when suspected militants had barged inside his house, and a day after his decapitated body was spotted by locals in an orchard. Police blamed a local militant affiliated with Lashker-e-Taiba outfit behind the killing.Without naming any separatist leader, Omar in a series of tweets on Friday said he is not surprised that no shutdown call was issued to protest Manzoor’s killing.“Any shut down call or call for “peaceful protests” for Manzoor Ahmed who’s decapitated body was found in North Kashmir after he’d been abducted & killed by militants? No? I’m not surprised,” wrote Omar on micro blogging site, Twitter.

Omar also said that a deliberate attempt to term the perpetrators as “unknown gunmen” is to give them a safe escape.“The “unknown gunmen” are conveniently termed to give cover to those who don’t want to/can’t criticise terrorist crimes,” he said.Saying “it is so easy to flow with the tide, much tougher to swim against it,” Omar wrote: “What happens to “Kashmir Solidarity” and wanna be Imran Khans when people like Manzoor are inhumanly butchered.”Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti strongly condemned the beheading of  Hajin youth. In a statement, the Chief Minister said the inhuman way in which the youth was done to death is againstthe social ethos and cultural value system of people of the State. The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies with the bereaved family.
