“Fools who relate Kashmiri struggle for freedom with unemployment and lack of education should think over the life, struggle and martyrdom of Shaheed-i-Hikamt Dr Abdul Ahad Guru who was highly educated and a reputed heart surgeon but joined freedom struggle and laid down his life for the sacred cause,” said Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on SaturdayIn a statement, Malik said, “People of Jammu Kashmir are indebted to martyrs like Shaheed-i-Hikmat Dr Abdul Ahad Guru who sacrificed their today for the betterment of our tomorrow.”

Dr Guru showed the characteristics of a Godly person and today more than two decades after his martyrdom, Kashmir is yet to produce any one like him,” Malik said.JKLF chief said Dr Guru was first Kashmiri Muslim doctor in who started open heart surgery in Valley and wrote a new chapter in the medical history of this “poor nation”

Nothing could deter Shaheed-i-Hikmat’s resolve and he continued his journey and achieved martyrdom on April 1, 1993. His brother in law Mian Ashiq Hussein also fell to the bullets,” Malik said.Meanwhile, on the anniversary of Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, a blood donation camp was organized at Abi Guzar Srinagar under the banner of Hameed Blood Bank.JKLF chairman himself looked after the camp in which scores of JKLF leaders, activists, well-wishers of martyrs including some women and students participated and donated blood for the well-being of humanity.Blood camp started at 10:30 am and ended at 2 pm. “JKLF chairman on the occasion talked to media and paid rich tributes to great martyrs of Jammu Kashmir and said that this blood donation is a glaring example of the love our great martyrs had for humanity,” the JKLF statement said.
