Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today visited Gujjar Basti Katyal in Suchetgarh Constituency and took stock of the peoples’ problems there.Addressing the people on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government is aware about their problems, adding that focus attention is being given to address them on priority.  He said that various developmental projects are underway   in the border belt so that people are provided better amenities. Sham Choudhary said that State and Central Governments have launched several welfare schemes for weaker sections of the Society and farmers, adding that Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been providing liberal funding for their effective implementation in the State so that socio-economic profile of these sections is improved.  He called upon them to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes.

Responding to demands projected by the locals, the Minister said that work on erection of concrete bandhs along River Tawi would be taken up soon and completed before the ensuing rainy season so that  Basti and  local agriculture land can  be protected from flash flood.  He also assured that their other genuine demands would also be looked into and fulfilled in phased manner. The locals also put-forth various other demands which include construction of lane and drains, blacktopping of road leading to Basti, opening of Veterinary centre, installation of separate transformer and poles and construction of bridge over local canal.Concerned officers of line departments accompanied the Minister during the tour.
