Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee today hailed the decision of Congress president Sonia Gandhi for elevating her son and AICC general Secretary Rohul Gandhi as Vice- president of AICC terming it a historic development in the party. Newly elected HPCC president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu claimed in a party statement issued here that this convention of party would prove a milestone in the times to come as after handing over important accountability to Mr Gandhi at 'Chintan Shivir' held in Jaipur recently it would increase the party base in the country under his dynamic leadership.
Expressing pleasure over elevation of Mr Gandhi to party vice- president, Mr Sukhu said it would pump new blood into party organisation and boost up and inspire youth within the party fold. A new wave of inspiration and happiness was blowing in the party as many youth consider him capable of steering ahead the party in forthcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections with thumbing majority.Mr Sukhu claimed that the party would give him a leading role in the future Congress government if it returns to power.
