State BJP today filed formal complaint to Election Commission of India against the Congress candidate for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary Constituency Ghulam Nabi Azad alleging that he had manipulated information about his property detail in the affidavits completed by him alongwith his nomination form to the Returning Officer. Giving details, Senior BJP leader and Senior Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma pointed out that in the column for immovable property, Azad had mentioned that he owned land in Washim, Maharashtra for since more than 20 years but the same information had not being disclosed by him in the nomination forms filled and submitted by him for the earlier elections contested by him.
The BJP leader pointed out that this amounts to deliberate concealment of facts regarding property and calls for action both under Election Commission of India rules as well as Income Tax rules.A complaint in this regard is being forwarded to both the Election Commission of India as well as Returning Officer. The BJP leader also flayed Congress leadership as said if Union Minister for the last 30 years was indulging in such misappropriation while contesting election, how could the people have faith in the credibility of Congress leader who stand totally exposed. He also urged upon the voters in the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda constituencies to overwhelmingly vote for BJP candidate in order to restore the honour and credibility of electoral process in the country.
