Residents of Watergam, Rafiabad area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday staged a massive protest against the power development department (PDD) at Baramulla-Kupwara highway hampered traffic movement for hours.Reports said that residents of Dangiwacha, Watergam and adjoining areas blocked the Baramulla Kupwara road shouting anti-PDD and anti-governmental slogans.“We don’t have an adequate power supply in the area. PDD is deliberately snapping our power supply, making the entire population suffer,” said a resident Faheem Ahmad.“The villagers alleged that the PDD has been resorting to unscheduled, frequent power cuts in the area and despite bringing the issue into the notice of the concerned no action has been taken yet.” said another resident Majid.Besides, they said that the district administration has shown least concern to address their grievances, they said.
