DIPR organizes painting competition on "Swachh Bharat"

As a part of Swachh Bharat Mission, Department of Information and Public Relations organised a ‘Painting Competition’ on the theme “Swachh Bharat- How Can We Contribute” at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, here today aiming to make the students aware about the need to keep the surroundings clean.Director Information, J&K, Muneer-ul-Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.Students from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar participated with great zeal and fervour in the event and came up with wonderful paintings depicting the theme to its hilt.Speaking on the occasion Director Information said that art is the best medium to inculcate and strengthen the changes like creating a Swachh Bharat both in our environs as well as part of our mental makeup. Swachh Bharat Mission needs new and well thought ideas that could only spring from imagination of youth.He appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing such a wonderful painting competition which has not only provided the platform to the students for exhibit their hidden talent through paintings and also educating them to keep premises of their college as well as their houses neat and clean for healthy environment.

He asked the officers to organize such similar competitions in future also in the educational institutions so that the future generation of the country could be made fully aware with the central as well as state sponsored schemes.Director Information also thanked the authorities of Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar for providing venue to the DIPR in organizing painting competition in the college and especially the judges, Dr. Meeru Abrol Associate Professor, Dr Anjali Bhatt, Associate Professor and Anita Sharma, Assistant Professor from the college adjudged the paintings. In the contest, Srishti Koul bagged first position, followed by Avleen Kour and Jhilmil Mengi who secured    second and third position respectively. Certificates and Mementos were given to the winners and participants of the painting competition. Joint Director Information Jammu, Naresh Kumar, Joint Director Information HQ, Sajid Yehaya Naqash, Deputy Director Information PR, Atul Gupta, Deputy Director Information AV, Rakesh Dubey, Cultural Officer, Raman Joshi, Field Publicity Officer, Priya Laxmi besides students of the college in large numbers were present on the occasion.
