At least 10 persons including five forces personnel and five militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight in Halmatpora area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.The encounter raged yesterday had claimed the lives of four militants, however on the second day, Five Forces personnel were killed while a militant was also neutralized.A police official said that so far five militants, two police men and a Territorial army jawan have been killed while Srinagar based Defense spokesperson in a Whatsapp text said that two army men and two policemen were killed in the gunfight.In a press release issued by Department of Information read that Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, paid rich tributes to the four Police and Army personnel who were killed in HalmatporaKupwara gunfight today.“She expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of the deceased and prayed for peace to the departed souls.”The encounter was triggered when militants fired at a joint party of the Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police on Tuesday.The operation was aided by the Army's Para Commandos. A police officer said that a joint team of the Army's 41 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG launched the operation following inputs about the movement of seven foreign militants in the area.Director General of Police SP Vaid confirmed the killing of two policemen and a soldier.The gunfight was underway till the filing of this report.
