Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) K. S. Sambyal today flagged-off a group of 80 progressive farmers from Jammu Division for participation in Krishi Unnati Mela to be held from March 16 to 18 at IARI Pusa New Delhi. At Krishi Unnati Mela, the main attraction will be Digitization in agriculture, organic farming, agri-business models, precision farming, skill building and entrepreneurship development. Besides live demonstration and display regarding production technologies of crops, integrated farming system, protected cultivation, farmers will visit the experimental fields of IARI, learn about water use technology, micro-irrigation/sensor-based irrigation system, recycling of waste water for agriculture, new farm equipments, bio-fertilizers, agro-chemicals, and machinery and on spot soil and water testing.Farmers will also interact with the field experts, scientists and meet their fellow farmers and progressive and innovative farmers of other states.
Interacting with the farmers, Sambyal advised the farmers to take full advantage of the tour and interact with the experts to learn the latest and innovative techniques in farming for enhancing the crop production. He said that the main objective of such visits is to acquaint the farmers with latest techniques, methods and machinery to be used for agricultural activities for enhancing productivity.Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), R.L.
