District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr. Shah Faisal in presence of Chief Education Officer, Bandipora, Mr. N.A. Kanth launched anti-tobacco campaign by way of flagging off a big rally in Bandipora today. The rally comprising of about 1000 students from 12 schools, was taken from Gulshan Park Bandipora and culminated at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kaloosa. The students were carrying banners and shouting slogans against smoking menace.
The Chief Education Officer on the occasion said that seminars, debates are being organized besides rallies taken in Hajin, Sumbal and Bandipora blocks under the said campaign so that the youth including students are prevented from smoking as well as from diseases. He said that all the Zonal Education Officers have already been directed to ensure that no use or sale of cigarettes is being made within a radius of 100 meters of the educational institutions in the district.
