Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh today conducted surprise visit of Mahanpur Government Degree College in Basohli to take stock of various ongoing development works in the campus.During his visit, the Minister directed the concerned officers of the executing agency to complete the ongoing development works in time without compromising quality and asked for development of playgrounds for badminton and basketball in the campus.The Minister also participated in the plantation drive in the college. He also inspected required standards in infrastructure, faculty, research, sports and other activities of the college.Later, the Minister listened to the grievances of the people at PWD Guest House, Basohli. A large number of deputations hailing from various adjoining areas apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by them related to road connectivity, power supply, drinking water, ration distribution, healthcare and education.Lal Singh assured them that their genuine demands will be resolved at the earliest and advised the people to facilitate the ongoing development works in their area as their proactive participation can ensure corruption free and responsive governance.

Calling attention to various development works, Lal Singh disclosed that un-electrified villages will soon be electrified and new roads will be laid to connect the remote and far off places besides water stressed areas will be prioritized to de stress the drinking water problem. He also said that Mashka–Satwain waterways will soon be developed by introducing steamer service for transportation.The Minister underscored the fact that not only smart cities but smart villages are also need of the hour to improve the socio-economicprofile of the villagers and announced to establish DFO Social Forestry office at Basohli besides a separate division for PHE.He also enquired about the steamer service being launched by the Forest Department and the kind of response generated among the locals. Among others ADC Basohli, Sanjay Gupta, SDPO Basholi, Sunil Singh, DFOs, Engineers, BMO, TSO and other prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
