State Govt. has taken a very appreciable step for providing job opportunities to the youngsters by organising State level Job fairs. This was stated by Technical Education Minister Punjab Sr. Charanjit Singh Channi while addressing the gathering after formally inaugurating 2nd State level job fair at PTU campus Mohali organised here in association with Aryans group of institutes, Universal group of institutes & Adesh group of institutesTechnical Education minister said that Punjab govt. by organising such job fairs is fulfilling its commitment to provide job opportunities in the state and such fairs will be continued in future. He said that reputed companies across the nation have shown their interest to recruit the candidates through the job fairs. He said that 1700 companies have registered themselves through online portal for these job fairs and they have shown interest to provide 46000 jobs to the candidates. Technical Education minister said that earlier 4lakh candidates have registered themselves to participate in recruitment process and now 70 thousand applications have also been received for the same. He said that last year 27500 youngsters were recruited through job fair and a taregt of 50000 jobs has been set for this year. He said that any eligible candidate could register himself through online portal at www.ghargharrozghar.punjab.gov.in. If any candidates have not registered himself online than he/she can avail the facility at the site of job fair also.Sh. Channi said that Punjab Govt. has created a unique platform for the reputed firms and technical institutions for easy recruitment process.
He said that in view of changing need and to meet with demand of hour, appropriate amendments in technical education syllabus will also be done from the coming session, so that maximum employments could be generated. During this he said that Govt. of Punjab is encouraging vocational courses at larger scale and a Skill Development University will be established at Chamkaur Sahib. During this he encouraged the students to study hard and to set an aim in life.Addressing the gathering Local Legislator Balbir singh Sidhu said that unemployment is forming a big problem nationwide as such vocational training is demand of the hour to create maximum employment opportunities. Addressing the representative of Technical institutions he said that vocational training should be provided to the students to meet the requirements and to beat the competition. He motivated the students to study hard. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab Govt. which are proving beneficial for creating job opportunities along with providing a new direction. While interacting with media he said that the purposed medical college will not be shifted from Mohali. The function was also addressed by Additional Director Technical Education Department Mohanveer Singh, Chief Coordinator PTU Sh. M. P. Singh, Chairman Aryan Group of colleges Sh. Ashu Kataria, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Chairman Universal group of institutions and by Sh. Gurfateh Singh director Technical Wing Adesh Group of institutions. During this 35 representatives of various reputed firms were present, who selected the eligible candidates. During this Sh. Harkesh Chand Machlikalan, Political Advisor to Sh. Sidhu and Gurcharan Singh Bhamra were also present.
