Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that a CBI enquiry will be constituted to unearth various scams under the Congress-led government in Meghalaya.Accusing the Mukul Sangma government of failure to utilize the sanctioned funds for the state, he said" "In a state where people have no access to electricity and water till today, development will remain a far cry if Congress continues to reign in Meghalaya."Rajnath Singh was addressing an election rally at Songsak in East Garo Hills district, in support of BJP candidates -- Thomas Sangma, Ricky Marak and Santosh R. Marak - contesting from Songsak, Ronjeng, Williamnagar assembly seats respectively.Later in the day, he also addressed an election rally at Tura to campaign for South Tura candidate Billykid A. Sangma. If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is given the mandate, the senior BJP leader promised that power will be provided to every household and villages within two years."People have to walk for several hours to fetch a bucket of water in the hills of Meghalaya, when the state boost of highest rainfall in the country. If BJP is voted to power, every household would be provided with clean drinking water," he said.Taking credit for newly inaugurated Tura-Shillong National Highway, Rajnath Singh said, "Centre is pumping money for Meghalaya's road maintenance but the state has failed in its duties."He cautioned the people that if BJP fails to form the government, Meghalaya would find it difficult to implement the Narendra Modi government's ambitious health insurance scheme. The Home Minister also said that the Congress-led Meghalaya government has failed to provide security to its citizens as of the 57 police stations, only 39 were functional.
