“Among the students of Punjab, I see the changing fate of the state”, said the Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal while inaugurating the two-day 'Tech Fest 2 K18' being organized here at Government College. The Finance Minister also announced a grant of Rs 15 lakh for the government college on this occasion.Addressing the inaugural function, Mr. Manpreet Badal further added that the contribution of a teacher in the life of a person is of utmost importance and even the maximum credit for the successes of world conquer Alexander (Sikandar) goes to his teacher.Mr. Badal said that our ancestors had made big sacrifices to get independence and large number of people lost their lives during the partition in 1947. He said that those who fought for independence hoped that after Independence people of the nation would be able to live dignified life, but even after 70 years of independence the dreams of our martyrs have not been fulfilled, there is still a lot to be done to fulfill these dreams.The Finance Minister said that ever since he joined politics, he preferred to avail the opportunities of visiting the educational institutions as he always feel extreme happiness while spending time with the students. Mr. Badal said that the Punjab has great and rich legacy and the youth of the state should join this legacy.

Motivating the youth to join Indian Army, Mr. Badal said that Punjab has sacrificed millions of its sons for the safety, security and sovereignty of the nation, but now the number of youth from Punjab has been declining in the Indian Army. He asked the Principal of the Government College, SAS Nagar to ensure that at least 10 students from the college should appear in the examination for recruitment in the army every year.Mr. Manpreet Badal said that during the last ten years, the times failed to perform as per the desires of Punjab and the state has lagged behind. All Punjabis will have to work hard to bring Punjab back on the stage, said Mr. Badal.Earlier, the Principal of the Government College Mrs. Komal Baroca welcomed the Chief Guest. She said that the Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal is the role model for the Punjabis who are working tirelessly for the progress of Punjab. She presented the Finance Minister a memorabilia and a set of books. The former DPI (Colleges) Mrs Roop Aulakh attended the function as a special guest.On the first day of Tech Fest, competitions including IT Quiz, Code Combat, Face Painting, Innovative Science Models, Web Designing, IT Skit and Bio Rangoli were organized. In the opening ceremony, Professor (Dr.) Gurpreet Singh Lehal, Director, Advance Center for Technical Development of Punjabi Language and Culture, Punjabi University Patiala, Dr. Gurdeep Singh Sekhon, convener of the Organizing Committee, and staff members were also present.
