The house on Saturday passed a Bill to provide for the Constitution of a State Road Safety Council and establishment of Road Safety Fund for implementation of road Safety Programmes in the state and related matters.The Bill was introduced by the Minister of State for Transport Sunil Sharma and house passed the bill through voice vote.Explaining the objectives of the bill, minister said with the advancement of transportation modes in the State, there are ever increasing accidents, fatalities and injuries being caused due to use of motor vehicles. He said the efficient, effective and planned transport stem is not only a system to be implemented but rather a commitment of the Government to face road safety challenges.Minister said the Government is committed to provide safe, secure and accountable transport management system to its people.He said the bill provides for constitution of the State Road Safety Council and Establishment of Road Safety Fund for implementation of road safety programmes in the State.
