Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur organised an orientation programme on Integration of Gandhian non-violent techniques of conflict resolution and communication in daily policing work The programme was organized in association with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti New Delhi. In the programme the sessions were held on adaption of non-violent conflict resolution techniques, how police can use tools of non-violent communication in their dealing with the public, how use of these techniques can enhance the image of the police and strengthen community policing experiences.Delivering the inaugural address, the Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur Mohd Sulaiman Salaria, said that Mahatma Gandhi was apostle of peace and non-violence. . He wished that this orientation programme would go long way in defining the attitudinal behavior of Jammu and Kashmir Police officers who are participating in the programme.

Dr. Vedabhyas Kundu, Programme Officer, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti shared how the initiative was being taken up with different police forces across the country. Shreya Jani, International Trainer in conflict resolution discussed about stress management and work life balance. She also talked about different techniques of non-violent conflict resolution and conflict mapping. Alongwith others the orientation was attended by CPOs, Dy.SSP and SHOs from different districts of J&K and 100 Assistant. Sub Inspectors.The participants took active part in different group exercises on the topics of drugs, adolescence, gender issues, communal issues, community policing where the causes and solution were discussed and deliberated.
