A delegation of the J&K Handicapped Association, Srinagar, led by Sh. Abdul Rashid Bhat, President of the Association, called on Governor N. N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.The delegation demanded: urgent enforcement of the “Persons with Disability Act, 2016”; ensuring that the State Trust Ordinance becomes a law of the State; establishment of provincial Directorates for the Welfare of Handicapped at Srinagar and Jammu; provision of office accommodation for organisations of the Handicapped at Jammu and Srinagar; conducting district level census of the disabled persons and a special employment drive for educated handicapped; establishment of CRC for Jammu; urgent implementation of decisions taken in meetings by the Governor and the Chief Minister regarding disabled people and on-ground implementation of all directions issued by the Social Welfare Department for the welfare of the handicapped.Governor observed that he would have an early meeting with Sh. Sajjad Gani Lone, Social Welfare Minister, for securing urgent resolution of all issues raised by the delegation.
