Locals from a hamlet in South Kashmir Monday staged a protest against the nocturnal raids carried out by government forces and subsequent detention of six persons including three students and a guest. The locals from Ayingund Rajpora village of Pulwama district said that combined forces from Army, CRPF and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted night raids in the village and arrested six persons. They identified the arrested persons as Muzaffar Ahmed Wani, Irfan Ahmed Wani, Mir Suhail, Manzoor Bhat, Javaid Ahmed while a guest from Hanjin village was also picked up by the government forces.“Those who arrested are students and are innocent. On the one hand government has announced amnesty for the stone-pelters while on the other students are mentally tortured and harassed,” the villagers said. On Sunday, four persons including two brothers and a guest were picked up by Government during a Cordon and Search Operation at Bonpora Muran in the same district.  A police official said that those arrested are involved in stone-pleting incidents. “They will be released after proper counseling,” he added.
