Minister for Animal Sheep husbandry & Fisheries Department, Abdul Gani Kohli today informed Legislative Assembly that the decision of construction of community hall at Sumbal on the demand locals as agreed by Chief Minister was delayed due to court stay. Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Legislator Mohammed Akbar Lone, the Minister said during her people’s outreach visit to district Bandipora on December 3 2017, the locals raised the demand for construction of a community hall on the land belonging to Animal Husbandry Department and it was acceded by the Chief Minister J&K, the Minister informedHe said directions were passed on the spot by the Chief Minister that to shift the Block Veterinary Office Sumbal to some suitable location and the Community Hall be raised on the site.He said subsequently, Divisional/ District Administration issued instructions to the District Animal Husbandry Officer, Bandipora to shift the office so that the CM's decision is implemented. “However, the Administration did not identify the place to which the office complex of Block Veterinary Officer, Sumbal was to be shifted, as per the Chief Minister's decision and therefore the Department could not shift the BVO Office till date.”In the meantime, the Minister further said, the residents of Sumbal through Mohamed Yousuf Rather filed a writ petition in the High Court praying therein for not dislocating the Block Veterinary Officer's Office Sumbal. The petition was heard by the High Court on 15/01/2018 and a status quo as it exists on the date was directed to be maintained till the next date of hearing i.e. 16/02/2018.
