Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today called for evolving efficient mechanism to improve overall health scenario in every health institution across JK.The Minister issued specific instructions to heads of the institutions seeking their personal involvement and monitoring the gaps and performance on ground, and taking all necessary steps to plug them so that the benefits of this important facility reach to every individual.While reviewing the overall functioning of the Health & Medical Education Department at a high-level meeting held here today, the Minister said the Department of Health & Medical Education caters to more than 90% population and provides medicare facilities to the people as there is a negligible share of private sector in the State.Therefore, there is a great need to upgrade the health facilities in the government hospitals at all levels and dedicated efforts by the doctors and paramedics. Everyone has to deliver on ground, to be accountable as per the expectations of the people.
Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal GMCJ, Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal GDC, Dr Romesh Singh, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh Soodan, Director Finance H&ME, Mohammad Rafiq, Additional Secretaries Health & ME, K S Chib, Naseer Ahmed Wani, JD Planning, Madan Lal, Medical Superintendent, SSH, Dr. Arun Sharma, engineering staff of GMC and other officers of H&ME Department were present in the meeting.The prominent issues which were discussed in detail in the meeting included, implementation of transfer policy, re-organization in some wings of health & medical education, re-designation of some categories of posts of doctors, availability of manpower, filling up of vacant posts of doctors, paramedics, holding of DPCs/promotions for various categories of posts, amendment of rules, availability and status of diagnostic equipments, fire fighting equipments, medical supply position, maintenance and repair of lifts, funds position, clearance of pending liabilities on various accounts.
The Minister also called for effective monitoring the progress of new medical colleges and other on-going health projects in the State at the level of Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education to ensure their time bound completion. He said Government has been making constant efforts to enhance the health budget to coup up with the increased work load during the past over some years.
