In order to acquaint, sensitize and mobilize the people about Swachhta Pakhwada, which is being observed throughout the country from January 16 to January 31, 2018, Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Unit Rajouri and Anantnag today organized awareness programme in Government Boys Higher Secondary School.The programmes were aimed at intensifying awareness generation on the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission which aims at making India Open Defecation Free, Making Indian Clean and Green and changing the mindset of the common masses about taking an initative to work for cleanliness of neighborhood and surroundings.In this regard, students were made aware about personal hygiene, community sanitation and use of latrines.During this pakhwada, DFP launched various publicity activities in which a film show, Group discussions, essay writing competition and a symposium was organized to make people understand their responsibility and come forward to contribute their part in achieving the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to make India clean and green.
The main programme was held at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri, which started with paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, The Father of Nation on his death anniversary.Officials from Directorate of Field Publicity also addressed the gathering and enlightened them about provision of incentives for any house hold interested in building IHHL. They also informed them that in case of lack of space in houses for IHHL people can get the benefits of Community Toilets through Rural Development Department.Besides, students were motivated to motivate their parents to get IHHL built in their houses by approaching concerned authorities and refrain from open defecation.A symposium competition and an essay writing competition was also held in GBHSS Rajouri on the topic Swachh Bharat Mission.In the symposium and essay writing competition, Gulam Musthfa (9th) stood first in both competitions whereas Masood Ali got second place in symposium and Sajjad Ahmed stood second in Essay writing.
