Several members today participated in the discussion on the working of Education Department in the Upper House. Initiating the discussion Qaiser Jamsheed Lone said the working of the department is highly appreciable. He said the middle schools need to be upgraded and demanded that new technical subjects be introduced in Kupwara Degree College to make students employable in new fields. He also demanded for up-gradation of accommodation of the same college on priority. He said SRO-202 be revoked for Lecturers working in higher secondary schools.Saif-ud-Din Bhat while appreciating the working of Education Department, said setting up of engineering wing in RMSA for construction of school buildings is appreciable and a welcome step. He demanded that schools in rural areas need to be up-graded expeditiously. He also demanded mitigation of the problems of private schools.

Naresh Kumar Gupta hailed the measures taken for transforming the education system of the state. He demanded that focus should be on quality education. He demanded that all the Degree Colleges in Chenab Valley need to be upgraded with infrastructure and introduction of new job oriented subjects. He also demanded for up-gradation of middle school at Charsu in Thathri.Vibod Gupta appreciated the Department for streamlining the department and demanded to provide teachers for Sanskrit and Urdu in schools of Jammu province. He also demanded for upgradation of middle schools and regularization of contractual teachers and release of salaries of SSA teachers. He also said that inter-district mutual transfers of education department to be considered.Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo while appreciating the working of the Department advocated consolidation of infrastructure and addressing the deficiencies. He also said that other infrastructure of schools to be up-graded. He demanded that special attention should be given to Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. He also advocated for new quota selection of RETs, making up-gradation of schools apolitical.

Ghulam Nabi Monga commended the working of the Department. He said that education infrastructure lacks in the state which needs to be considered at every level.  He demanded further augmentation of school education for better results. He also suggested for establishment of computer labs and laboratories in the schools and colleges. He demanded starting work on fencing of outer boundaries of the Zehanpora High School in district Baramulla. Surinder Kumar Choudhary said education Department has achieved milestones and everybody has seen a real and positive change in the department. He commended the Department for believing in pragmatism. He suggested for taking further steps to strengthen student role in government schools and adequate facilities to be provided including toilet, mid day meals and other infrastructure. He also demanded for up-gradation of schools in Nowshera and other border areas of the state. He also advocated for promotion of Urdu in the schools.

Ajatshatru Singh said the department has taken dynamic steps towards education of the young generation. He demanded that distance education mode to be augmented in state to make it easy for far flung areas. He also said that time has come to introduce new technology including smart classes and other related things to allure maximum students in government schools.  He also suggested that workshops should be conducted both for teachers and students for making them fully aware of new techniques and trends in education sector. While as, he suggested for involving parental side for better education of their wards.

Similarly, the MLC said that new foreign languages should be introduced which will give new impetus to existing education system. Besides, proper inspection and fee fixation to be taken into consideration as well as monitoring of fake schools and colleges shall be look into.Showkat Hussain Ganaie while appreciating the Department said that the department has achieved milestones by working dedicatedly. He demanded introduction of more subjects in Degree College Shopian and steps to be taken for providing transport facility for underprivileged students to reduce their dropout rate. He also demanded that adequate toilet facility particularly in Girls schools and proper electricity for computer labs should be provided.  He also added that language courses should be introduced for rural areas to enhance their communication skills.Sham Lal Bhagat appreciated the working of the Department and demanded to cancel all attachments of teachers of far flung areas who are presently serving in urban areas. He demanded that work on Thanda Pani High School should be expedited. He also said that to hone the inner potential of students massive thrust should be given for co-curricular activities and for creation of sports infrastructure in the area.

Ramesh Arora while appreciating the Department demanded that members from Jammu shall be included in the syllabus review committee and also demanded for introduction of bio-metric attendances in every school of the state. He also demanded to provide teachers for Dogri and Urdu subjects. Khursheed Aalam said that it was the dream of Late Mufti Mohammad Syed to put more thrust on school education, which is being proved by the present dispensation and in particular by the Education  Minister. He demanded that the curriculum of private schools to be reviewed for having errors in some text books. He also demanded that proper toilet facility to be given for girl’s school and sanitation of schools in the state and also demanded a permanent education policy to be framed for the state.
