District Administration holds meeting at several LoC villages

In view of frequent ceasefire violations and targeting of inner inhabited areas in cross-LoC shelling, several teams of district administration visited forward areas to assess situation and held meetings with border inhabitants.Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who visited forward areas in Manjakote, informed that teams of officers lead by Addl DM, SDMs and other officers conducted  extensive touring in affected areas including Nowshera, Sunderbani, Doongi, Rajouri and Manjakote for holding interaction with public informing about rescue and evacuation plan as well as availability of relief camps.Addl DC, Abdul Qayoom Mir along with Tehsildar and officials from Revenue and Animal Husbandry visited several villages of Doongi area and held public meetings. Tehsildar, Manjakote, Mehmood Ahmed also held meetings in border villages and inspected the damages for which relief cases were accordingly prepared. SDPO, Manjakote, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad briefed the public about security measures in place ad arrangements made.

SDM, Nowshera, Abdul Sattar held meetings at Kalsian, Bhawani, Khamba, Jhangar, Sarya, Laroka, Lam and Pukherni. He was accompanied by Tehsildars Nowshera and Qila Darhal apart from other officers. Nowshera areas have remained worst affected due to ceasefire violations in last one year. Accordingly, necessary measures were taken for relief and rehabilitation.SDM, Sunderbani, Kartar Singh also visited various forward villages along LoC and reviewed the situation. In view of strategic location the villages in Sunderbani remained safer during the ongoing ceasefire violation.District Administration has made necessary arrangements for establishment of relief camps in case of any escalation leading to likely evacuation from border areas. Six relief camps are already functional and provided with all basic amenities.Senior officers reviewed the situation in the area and discussed strategic preparations in place for medical emergencies, relief, migration and rehabilitation. In view of the proposal of district administration already approved by the Government for coverage of losses due to ceasefire violation at par with SDRF norms the resources have been augmented for providing best possible relief and assistance to affected families.
