While addressing a mammoth gathering of farmers at Kendla in district Jind, Haryana, Governor Acharya Devvrat said that scientists were now recommending natural farming after thorough research in this direction. He said that the farmers had used chemical fertilizers in abundance in the name of Green Revolution to increase their production. He added that excessive use of chemicals continuously decreased the fertility of the soil and said that we would only give barren land to our future generation, which was a matter of concern. Chemical farming was not going to benefit the farmers in any way, he said.Acharya Devvrat said that similarly, even organic farming was not proved beneficial for the farmers as it was costly and farmers have to use cow dung and other products besides earthworm manure etc. The production under this system was lesser during the first three years and the loss was not bearable for the poor farmers, he added. He said that now a days big factories have been set up in the name of organic products and costly farming products were being produced and the farmers took loan in every crop. The Governor said that zero budget natural farming was the only solution to safe the farmers and double their income.
