MoU Inked Between Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board & Panjab University Chandigarh To Boost Tourism

The Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) and Panjab University, Chandigarh here today at the office of PHTPB in sector-38 inked an MoU aimed at giving a huge boost to the tourism sector in Punjab as part of the series of path breaking measures being undertaken by the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Department under the visionary guidance of Cultural Affairs & Tourism Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu. The CEO of the PHTPB Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon and the Vice Chancellor of the Panjab University Prof. Arun Grover signed on the dotted line.Disclosing in a statement after the signing of MoU, the CEO of PHTPB Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon said that no stone is being left unturned to make Punjab a frontline state in terms of tourism sector. He further said that with the signing of this MoU both the institutions would forge a long term partnership keeping mutual sharing of expertise in the prime focus. 

Besides this, a series of activities would also be chalked out to give fillip to tourism in the state. Divulging more, Mr. Dhillon said that the university would give academic as well as the intellectual inputs whereas the PHTPB would chip in with the financial and infrastructural assistance.  The university would furthermore initiate in tandem with the PHTPB many development centric projects and the refresher/orientation courses. Apart from this, short term certificate courses would also be started in order to enhance the capacity building in tourism sphere for which the PHTPB would render every assistance. The PHTPB would conduct internship programmes or job training for the students of the university. It is also worth mentioning that recently a similar MoU was signed with the Punjabi University, Patiala.On the occasion, Manager Projects of the PHTPB Alka Kapoor, Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration of Panjab University Dr. Ramanjit Kaur Johal and Prof. Prashant Gautam from the Hotel and Tourism Management Department of the University were also present.
