Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department (HED), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon launched latest edition of JK Knowledge Initiative along with Higher Education News, journal and departmental newsletter at GGM Science College here today.Speaking on the occasion, Samoon said that with recent advancements in technology, knowledge needs to be readily available to students. He stressed on infusing curriculum with content that will not only involve the lectures but also touches other aspects of learning as well.He asked the teaching fraternity to evolve their methods and develop advanced teaching techniques to achieve better results in today’s rapidly changing education scenario.Samoon asked for transformation of students which would prove to be prospective in imparting skills, promoting inter disciplinary talent, knowledge and character building, confidence building among students to make J&K a hub of academic excellence by providing quality education to the students.He maintained that the higher education paves way for students towards a successful and bright future and further stressed on equal access to higher education for every student for his socio-economic development.Dr. Asgar said that newsletters contain science research papers through which students can easily access the facts and enlighten themselves by gaining more knowledge. He exhorted upon the younger generation to develop the habit of reading as a part of learning process to be well prepared for the competitive world.Senior functionaries of HED, Principals and faculty members of various colleges were present on the occasion.
