First round of training programme for Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers, which commenced on 9th January, concluded here today. The training program was conducted under the supervision of District Panchyat Election Officer Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for the forth-coming Panchayat Elections.A total of 435 ROs and AROs were trained in 2 days training program during which interaction on various issues related to election process was held.In the inaugural session, Additional District Development Commissioner A S Chib underlined the importance of transparency and accountability to be observed by ROs and AROs for free and fair elections. Deputy District Election Officer, Shrikant Suse, informed that 3 such rounds of training will be held in coming days to make ROs and AROs well equipped with Panchayat Raj Act, 1989 provisions, Rules and various issues involved in election process.
The trainees were provided handbooks issued by election authorities which contain detailed guidelines about notification, nominations, withdrawal, scrutiny, poll , counting, Model Code of Conduct, SVEEP etc.The training was imparted by master trainers including Prof. Haqeekat Singh Ishar, Dr. Naseem AhmedProf, Prof. PG college Rajouri Professor Iqbal Raina, Bilal Ahmed Mir AD Planning and Sanjay Kumar Suri, Principal Govt HSS kalakote.Pertinently, 435 ROs and AROs appointed in 19 blocks, 312 panchayat and 2394 panchayat constituencies including officers from different Departments such as Education, Revenue, Irrigation, Flood control, Animal Husbandry, RDD attended the Training Programmes.The similar Training Programmes shall be organised from 15 January 2018 onwards.
