Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today convened a review meeting regarding distribution of Pre-Matric and post Matric scholarships among the Schedule Tribe students besides vocational training courses for educated unemployed tribal youth of the state.The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Tribal Affairs, S. A. Raina, Special Secretary Tribal Affairs Mohammad Sharief, Director Tribal Affairs, Project Director RAMSA and senior officers of the department.Commissioner Secretary Tribal Affairs, briefed the meeting regarding the status of implementation of various schemes meant for Tribal Population and tribal students. He informed that during the year 2016-17, the department has given pre Matric scholarships to 6131 tribal students with distribution of Rs 1.38 crore among them. Besides, under Post Matric scholarships, Rs 14 crore have been distributed among 13245 tribal students during the year 2016-17.Zulfkar directed the concerned officers that separate scholarship forms should be made available to the students with the admission form. He had threadbare discussion on various other issues including the vocational training courses for educated unemployed tribal youths of the state.
