622 daily wagers deployed in Kalakote coal mines : Asiea Naqash

Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Asiea Naqash replying to a question raised by MLC Vibod Gupta informed the House that there are 622 workers deployed in coal mines in Kalakote.Giving details, the Minister informed that 387 workers are deployed in Moghla, 148 in Metka, 15 in Bergoa Exploratory and 72 in offices of these coal mines.She said Jammu and Kashmir Minerals Limited (JKML) started the work on coal mines in different areas of Kalakote in 1961 onwards.The Minister further informed that daily wagers deployed on ancillary jobs including trammers, haulage opts and timber setters are being given Rs 172.50 per day while as underground workers and general workers are being given Rs 5505 and Rs 5175 respectively as monthly wages.She further informed that Rs 201.25 has been fixed as wage norm for production of 0.450 tonnes of coal per man shift for daily wagers deployed exclusively for extraction of coal from the underground. They are being paid Rs 6425 as average wages per month, she added.MLC Surinder Kumar Choudhary also raised supplementary.
