District Development Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz today stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) in the district.DDC said this during a meeting convened today to review the progress on implementation of PMKSY in the district. The meeting was attended by the Joint Director Planning, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Engineers from PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control and Project Officer IWMP. The meeting took a comprehensive account of the formulation of an effective plan for the implementation of the scheme for district. It was given out that enhancing the physical access of water on the farms and expanding cultivable area under assured irrigation and enhancing adoption of precision-irrigation and other water saving technologies are the main objectives of the scheme.Promotion of micro-irrigation in the form of drips, sprinklers, pivots, rain-guns in the farm enhancing recharge of aquifers; promoting sustainable water conservation and ensuring integrated development of Rainfed areas, Water harvesting, water management and crop alignment are the other major objectives of the PMKSY Scheme.While calling for a phase wise implementation of the scheme, the DDC mentioned that areas with lesser natural irrigation faculties should be taken up on top priority.The DDC also highlighted the fact that rainwater harvesting and recharging ground water should be the focal points. The DDC directed the concerned officers to submit the Plan immediately.He directed the concerned officers to ensure proper implementation of the projects under the PMKSY and to work with coordination for completing the pending developmental projects.
