Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) hosted the launch of the book ‘A Biography of Innovations from Birth to Maturity’ authored by Mr. R.Gopalakrishnan, published by Penguin India at Rotary House, Sector 18, Chandigarh. General V P Malik, PVSM, AVSM 19th Chief of Army Staff of Indian Army was the chief guest of the event.Mr. Deepak Dhingra, President CMA, while delivering his welcome address mentioned that the organizations that see and act upon the opportunities for change through innovation in the current volatile and uncertain business environment, will not only survive but will successfully compete. They will even flourish in the face of adverse and fluctuating business and economic conditions. They will use innovation as a strategic, systemic & technological lever for developing agile innovation cultures, accountable business management processes and global industry eco-systems.
Gen. Malik, while providing a brief review of the book, narrated various interesting incidents of his tenure in the Indian Army that gave another practical dimension to the subject.R. Gopalakrishnan, who is Corporate Advisor – The Mindworks, Former President – AIMA and Former Director – Tata Sons, explained how concepts turn into ideas, which then become prototypes, models and products. He described that thought is the ancestor of innovation; as without thought, there could be no innovation.
