Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur Mr. Sunil Jakhar has asked Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to apologize for misleading allegations levelled by him against former Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh.Sunil Jakhar was interacting with media personals outside the Parliament after the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned today. Mr. Jakhar said that the former Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh is not only a celebrated personality within the country but he is also well known economist of the world. He is the honor of every Punjabis. In such a case, making baseless allegations against him is not only an insult to the entire Punjabis but also of the whole country. He said that the sacrifices of Punjabis are well established fact during freedom fighting movement and during the post independence wars but the statement of Prime Minister has hurt the sentiments of Punjabis. Mr. Jakhar said that either the Prime Minister should apologize for his words unconditionally or if he has any proof, then his government should come forward to ask the NIA to register case. He said that in the greed to score victory in Gujarat polls the Prime Minister has misled the people through canards.
He said that difference of ideology in politics was must in democracy but while giving such a statement for only political gain, the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi did not even consider whether he was sitting on such a responsible post,. He said that in order to divert attention from the weaknesses of the BJP government, the Prime Minister had stooped too low which he should seek an unconditional apology.Mr. Jakhar said that today in Lok Sabha, serious issues like drug addiction among youth and issue of MSP for farmers have to be considered but due to reluctance of the government no fruitful discussion happened today. Mr. Jakhar said that he want to raise the issue to complete time bound enquires by ED against those who are involved in drug trafficking in the country including Punjab. He demanded from the central government that strict law should be made to deal with cases of foreign brides who cheat girls by marrying with them. On the issue of Sikhs getting tortured in Pakistan, he demanded immediate intervention from the Union government.Suggested for box BJP's moral defeat in GujaratSpeaking about the outcome of Gujarat elections, Mr. Jakhar said that it is a BJP's moral defeat in Gujarat. He said that in order to counter the leadership of Congress President Mr. Rahul Gandhi, BJP mobilised its entire Union Government, along with its leaders from the country. Comparing it with Chakravuyha of Karauvs to kill Abhimanyu, Mr Jakhar said the mobilization of BJP leaders from across the country took place in Gujarat just to corner Mr Rahul Gandhi. He said that the kind of utterances spoken by the BJP in the election campaign was the real face of BJP. He said that Congress's performance in Gujarat was very encouraging. He said that Congress party would surely register a major victory under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in the General Elections of 2019.
