Minister for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma convened a meeting to review the functioning of State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) here today.The meeting had a detailed review of overall functioning of the Corporation and sought suggestions from senior officials of the department to make it more result oriented and a vibrant unit of the government.The Minister stressed on the need to adopt innovative ideas for further streamlining the functioning of the Corporation. He said that further steps are needed to be taken up to improve the revenue generating capacity of the Corporation besides strengthening its human resource and machinery.The Minister asked the officers to ensure enhanced public transport services across the state with emphasis on remote and far off parts.The Minister, while taking stock of functioning of government workshops, directed the concerned to equip them with necessary modern machinery and other tools so that the vehicles get repaired in time. He further stressed upon the officers to augment their workshops with skilled manpower.
The Minister said that the Corporation is face of the transport department and there is need of innovative ideas, modern methods and bringing transparency in its functioning.The Minister further asked the officers to work with dedication and honesty besides emphasizing them for taking necessary steps for improving revenue generation.The Minister emphasized upon the officers to make the records digitized and monitor the overall performance of the employees of the Corporation for effective working.Commissioner Secretary Transport, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Vice Chairman JKSRTC, Haji Parvez, Managing Director JKSRTC, Mir Afroz, besides General Managers Purchase, Administration, Operation and Mechanical and other officers were present in the meeting.
