20 year Rajesh from Bellary is pursuing a graduate programme in sociology. His interests include cricket television shows and aspires to become an English Professor & Television Host. 49 students from across Bangalore District participated in a day long workshop,“ Being Future Ready” by the Department of Vision Rehabilitation, Sankara Eye Hospital Bangalore in association with Young Indians, Bangalore Chapter, that looked at enabling soft skills and language towards employability.“We identified specific areas that would benefit these students from Government schemes to effective communication that would help them aspire for better jobs and to knowledge on being safe from abuse at the workplace to work-life balance. We hope this interactive format has strengthened the resolve of these students to aspire and join the workforce” said Dr Kaushik Murali, President Sankara Eye Foundation & Chair Young Indians CII Bangalore Chapter.

Speaking at the inauguration Mr. Vikram Chaudhury, Sankara Eye Hospital shared, “ Sankara Eye Hospital is a one stop care provider for people with vision impairment. Over the past few years we have strengthened our Vision Rehabilitation Department to provide support and skills to those who are blind to lead a full life and contribute effectively to society”An interactive session on communication by Savitha Reddy, Founder Inlingua and Young Indians Member exposed the students to the 7C’s of communication of namely clarity conciseness, completeness, courtesy, consideration,concrete and  correctness. Further sessions looked at self- confidence and also the knowledge to be safe from sexual abuse at the workplace.The workshop culminated with a panel discussion with industry experts from Microsoft India, SAP Labs, Lemon Tree Hotels and Sankara Eye Hospital.“Our intention was to blend topics that would help them become not only employable but confident citizens of India. This workshop is as part of our Young Indians – Masoom initiative that looks at preventing abuse in children & young adults” Sharada Chair Masoom Young Indians Bangalore.
