Govt schools to be augmented with requisite infra : Syed Altaf Bukhari

Minister urges reputed private educational institutions to spread footprint in rural areas

The Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has said that the government has prioritized to provide bare minimum infrastructure and staff to bring government schools to create congenial environment for teaching learning process.“Thrust is on providing building with adequate number of class rooms, sanitation and water facilities and infrastructure for co-curricular activities”, Minister said speaking at a private school function here at General Zorwar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University.Appreciating the contribution of private sector in education, he said government does not consider private schools as competitor but as a contributor in spreading education in the state.

“It is a fact that of 25 lakh children in the state, 16 lakh are enrolled in government schools and 9 lakh are studying in private sector institutions, which is a big contribution on latter’s part” The Minister added.Appreciating the academic and co-curricular record of the host school, he urged big private institutions to serve in rural areas and assured them extra support in such ventures.Earlier, the students presented a scintillating cultural bonanza, featuring folk music, dance and traditions of Jammu And Kashmir State.Secretary, School Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Director School education Jammu, Ravinder Singh and a large number of students and parents attended the function.
