Five of a family dead in truck-van collision in Bengal

Five members of a family, including two women and two children, died in a road accident while four other passengers were injured as their vehicle collided head-on with a truck in West Bengal early on Thursday morning.Police said the accident took place near Jalpaiguri district's Tarunpara at around 4 a.m. when the nine persons were returning in their vehicle from a marriage function in neighbouring Cooch Behar district."Two children, two women and one man travelling in a Maruti Omni died as the van crashed into a truck. Four other passengers sustained injuries in the accident and have been rushed to a Jalpaiguri hospital," an officer from Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station said.According to police, all the passengers were residents of Jalpaiguri district."The truck driver and the driver of the van fled the spot after the accident. We are looking for them. The truck involved in the accident has been seized," the officer added.
