Deputy Speaker of British Columbia Legislative Assembly Raj Chouhan today called upon the Speaker Punjab Legislative Assembly Rana KP Singh to explore the possibility of establishing a mutual arrangement or partnership agreement between Legislative Assemblies of the both states. He also conveyed congratulations to Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh on the behalf of Premier of British Columbia Mr. John Horgan for winning the confidence of the people.During half an hour long interaction, Mr. Raj Chouhan, MLA from Burnaby-Edmonds in Vancouver handed over a draft partnership agreement to Rana KP Singh besides discussing various issues being faced by both houses. He also conveyed that the Speaker and the Clerk of Legislative assembly of British Columbia would like to visit Chandigarh to meet Rana KP Singh to finalize the partnership agreement.Conveying congratulations to Chief Minister Punjab on the behalf of Premier of British Columbia, Mr. Chouhan said that Mr. John Horgan expressed hope that the overall development of the state would witness a boost under the able leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh.
He further added that Mr. Horgan is also interested in strengthening the bilateral ties, trade relations and cultural relations between the two states.Welcoming Mr. Raj Chouhan, Rana KP Singh said that it was a matter of proud that Punjabis like him attained height in various fields at Canada. He said that the initiative taken by the Speaker of British Columbia Legislative Assembly would be a learning experience for both states as legislatures of the both states can learn many things from each other. He promised that he will examine the draft agreement offered by the Speaker British Columbia to move ahead in this direction. He also promised Mr. Chouhan that he will convey the congratulations and wishes of Premier of British Columbia to the Chief Minister Punjab.Prominent amongst others, Mr. Som Prakash, Mr. Gurpreet Singh GP, both MLAs, Ms. Shashi Lakhanpal Mishra, Secretary Punjab Legislative Assembly and PS to Speaker Mr. Ramlok were also present on this occasion.
