SAD to contest all forthcoming elections in Haryana on its own symbol

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will contest all forthcoming elections in Haryana on its own symbol starting with forthcoming elections to civic bodies of Ambala and Rohtak.A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the SAD Haryana State unit yesterday evening which was presided over by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.In a statement here today, Mr Sukhbir Badal said the members of the Haryana unit unanimously passed a resolution to contest all forthcoming elections in the State on the party’s symbol. “I have asked them to work vigorously to strengthen the party at all levels so that the SAD may emerge as a major force in Haryana politics”.The SAD president said following a request from the Haryana State leadership it was also decided that senior Akali leaders from Punjab would be deputed to Haryana to help in strengthening the organization. He also asked the Haryana unit to identify with people issues and take up such issues for redressal.Senior leaders including president Sharanjit Singh Sotha and Senior vice President  Raghujit Singh Virk also spoke on the occasion besides others. There was a suggestion to modernize the party’s office in Kurukshetra. The SAD president immediate acceded to this suggestion and said the office must be strengthened and also equipped with modern communication equipment.Senior leaders who spoke on the occasion included  Amarjit Singh Mangi (Jagadhri), Balkaur Singh (mla Kalianwali), Gurmit Singh Tirlokawala and Bhupinder Singh Asandh (both SGPC members), Baldev Singh Kainpur , Sant Singh Kandhari (Ambala), Sukhdev Singh Gobindgarh, Gurjot Singh Nidar (Ambala Cantonment), Balbir Singh (Ambala), Ravinder Singh Rana (Faridabad), Sukhsagar Singh (Hisar), Gurmit Singh Punia, Prof Sundar Singh (Kaithal), Charanjit Singh Takhar,  Bibi Kartar Kaur, Surjit Singh (Ambala) and Sukhjit Singh (Sirsa).
