DC Poonch flags off study tour for orchardists

District development Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar today flagged off a group of 35 local drawn farmers/orchardists from different horticulture zones of the district who would be provided training and taken on exposure visits of state of J&K and different locations of nearby state Himachal Pradesh from today onwards up to December 16.Additional District Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Abdul Hamied, SDM MendharRahual Yadav, officers and officials of Horticulture department were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, DDC Poonch said the aim of the visit is to educate the farmers about the latest technology of farming and cultivation methods so that the farmers of this remote district may be able to replicate it in their own farming methods and can reap full benefit out of this study cum exposure tour.As per the schedule, in first phase, farmers will visit several farms in Jammu district and then they will be taken to Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, a renowned place for horticulture related activities and then followed by visits of farmers at BajoraKulu in a horticulture research institute to equip themselves about new cultivation methods from scientists cum experts followed by field visits.As per schedule, farmers have to attend a training session at Mashbra Shimla Research Institute of Horticulture department followed by visit at DMR Chambraghal Mushroom Cultivation Center. On December 14, farmers will get training session in Dr. Y S Parmar University in Himachal Pradesh.
