The Management of Handicrafts (S&E) Corporation is seized with the problems of the employees and various avenues are being opened to address these, Vice Chairman of the Corporation, Nizamuddin Bhat said this in a statement issued today. He said that the sales of the Handicraft items are being promoted to generate sufficient revenue to meet the service liabilities and other necessary expenditure. Bhat said that Finance Minister Dr. Haseeb Drabu has taken review of all Corporations including the Handicraft Corporation to ameliorate the lot of the employees and artisans. To ensure that business gets a push, Bhat said, Industries Ministry itself is making all efforts to help the Corporations to meet liabilities and become viable. He said these initiatives are being taken out of stated policy of the government to make PSU's a valuable tool to enhance the quality production of all indigenous goods and sustain the business of art and craft for overall economic growth and employ ability.

Bhat said the employees of the Corporation are well aware of the redressal mechanism and are part of this process. “Corporations see entire manpower as legitimate stake holders and expect desired corporation to meet the deficiencies.”The Vice Chairman expressed hope that government's intention to raise the status of PSU's will soon show the results of which the employees will be the natural beneficiaries besides the artisans, weavers and other workers. He expressed confidence that all stakeholders will contribute towards strengthening sustainable growth-oriented measures so that the state as a whole comes upto the desired standards of competitive business and traditional fame.
