DDC Budgam reviews winter preparedness, availability of essentials

 District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik today convened a meeting to review winter preparedness and availability of essential commodities in the district.The DDC took stock of the availability of food grains, LPG, petrol, diesel, k-oil, besides availability of medicines in the district. The meeting was informed that about 75% dumping has been completed in 90 ration depots of the district which remain cut off during the winter months and the rest will be completed soon.While directing the concerned officers, to keep their men and machinery ready for snow clearance during winters, the DDC stressed them to workin coordination to deal with any exigency. He directed them to maintain close liaison with the District Disaster Management Cell.It was also given out that Mechanical Engineering Department has deployed 10 snow clearance machines for clearing of 954 km road length, besides R&B and Municipal officials were also directed to ensure snow clearance of roads falling under their jurisdiction. During the meeting, the action plan already formulated was discussed in detail and the DDC urged all concerned to implement the plan in letter and spirit and ensure prioritization during clearance works.

The DDC directed PDD authorities to ensure prompt restoration services in case of breakdown of transformers and exercise prudence in maintaining revolving buffer of electric transformers. Similar instructions were passed on to PHE authorities.He also directed the revenue authorities to ensure punctuality of staff in the offices and directed conducting of regular inspections to check the attendance of officials.While directing the officers to conduct sensitization programmes for their grass root level workers, the DDC ordered constitution of Village Level Teams comprising VAEA, VLW, Patwari, GRS, Linemen of PDD, PHE, Numberdar, Chowkidar, Food Store Keeper, etc who would be mobilized to conduct tour of villages during exigency and report the ground position to the higher-ups in the district administration.Meanwhile, arrangements for Eid Milad-un Nabi (SAW) were also reviewed in the meeting.
