Updated Booklet On Defence Schemes Released By TS Shergill

Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Lt Gen (Retd.) Tejinder Singh Shergill released an updated edition of the booklet on welfare schemes for defence personnel and ex-servicemen on Thursday evening.The booklet, in Punjabi and English languages, lists out the defence welfare schemes of the central government and the Punjab state government. Several senior retired officers of armed forces and several other dignitaries, including CMD PESCO Major Gen. (Retd.) S.P.S. Grewal and Director Defence Services Welfare Brig. (Retd.) J.S. Arora, were present at the release of the updated version.According to an official spokesperson, the booklet, brought out by the Defence Services Welfare Department, was primarily meant to provide updated information and comprehensive guidance regarding various welfare schemes to defence veterans, War Widows and their dependents. 

Lt. Gen. Shergill said that the booklet would go a long way in creating awareness amongst the serving defence personnel and ex-servicemen besides as well as their kin, and enable them to take full advantage of the existing welfare schemes of state and central governments. He hoped the department would also continue to make such endeavours in the future too, in the service of the brave soldiers of the state, who were relentlessly performing their duties to protect their motherland from internal as well as external aggression with utmost devotion, sincerity and commitment.

The revised and updated edition of booklet, in the form of a compendium, has been made available at the offices of District Defence Services Welfare Officers (DDSWOs) in every district across the state. Ex-servicemen can obtain a copy of the booklet free of cost from the offices of the DDSWOs, the spokesperson added.
