Fielding the scam tainted-non-performing leaders like Subodh Kant Sahay from Ranchi and Pawan Kumar Bansal from the elite constituency, Chandigarh only shows the bankruptcy of Congress. Stating this, the State President, the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sanjay Tandon said that that Congress is now bereft of clean candidates, clear ideologies and sans any developmental agenda for people. The party which boasted of bringing transparency in public has actually shown that it lacks any vision, he said.Tandon said that Pawan Kumar Bansal, should have refused to contest from the Chandigarh Parliamentary seat for the speculations over his involvement in the rail gate scam. “Bansal should have taken the responsibility of his nephew Vijay Singla’s connection in the Rs 10 crore cash-for-post in railways scam. There was no logic in making Pawan Bansal as prosecution witness in this case when it was clear that Vijay Singla could not have assured the coveted post without the understanding with the minister”, he added.

Tandon appealed to the people to get rid from the Congress misrule in Chandigarh where its sitting MP, Bansal who has been ruling from last 15 years failed to bring any remarkable project in the city. “The residents of Chandigarh should take the responsibility now to support a political leader who has a clean image and has a clear vision for the development of the city. They should vote for a candidate who can come to aid for middle class, underprivileged section, youth and for the business fraternity. The wave of the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi can be felt in the whole country because he shows a clear agenda of making India, a superpower”, Tandon informed.

Tandon averred that Bansal had made a mockery of governance and he had used all his connections in getting his name clear from this scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charged Bansal’s nephew, Vijay Singla with graft under sections 120B of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Bansal had to resign from the Union Railway Minister in the aftermath of the case involving his nephew, who is alleged to have been operating from his official residence.“During the surveillance of Singla's phones, the CBI had come across phone intercepts which showed that he was in regular touch with officials close to the Minister. The CBI too was under the scanner for going soft on Bansal. If you go into the details Bansal is mentioned at least 50 times in the call transcripts annexed to the 4,000-page CBI chargesheet. There were evidences of Singla and Mahesh Kumar to whom the post was offered met several times at Bansal’s official residence. Bansal too met Kumar many times, but later claimed to have never discussed appointments with him, which the CBI accepted”, Tandon added. With the help from UPA government, Pawan Kumar Bansal has been successful in shielding himself in the Court of Law but he won’t be able to save his face in the Court of people, said Tandon.
