Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party, has demanded of the BJP Government, led by Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, to keep its word to the employees, immediately meet their long-pending genuine demands, and prevent a state-wide stir which could bring the state machinery to a grinding halt.In a statement issued here today, the former excise and taxation minister said that peeved over “backtracking by the government” and lackadaisical attitude towards their demands, the Haryana Karamchari Mahasangh, representing various employees’ unions, planned to launch an indefinite strike, strategy for which will be chalked out in Rohtak, on December 2.

The Mahasangh has been pressing its demands which include regularisation of temporary employees, issuance of notification on cashless medical facility, provision of allowances on a par with Central Government employees and filling of vacant posts, most of which the BJP Government had accepted but not yet implemented. The Haryana Roadways Workers Union too has demanded release of pending bonus to employees, ‘no’ to withdrawal of long-route buses and privatization of state transport service.Lashing out at the BJP Government for backtracking on its promises, Mrs Choudhry asked the Chief Minister to reset priorities of his government, keep its word and accept all genuine demands of the agitating employees.
