Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today said that with the aim to provide better road connectivity to the people of the far-flung areas of the Kargil district, the present regime has undertaken several concrete measures and a good number of major road projects are in the pipeline. The LC Chairman stated this while interacting with public delegations during his extensive tour of various villages in Shargole area including Lotsum, Tacha, Karith , Darket, Skamboo and adjoining villages.Haji Anayat Ali said that projects for the up-gradation and extension of link road Chanchik and construction of link road from Karamba to Chomo Shukpa at a cost of Rs 3.66 crore and Rs 2.82 crore respectively have been sanctioned under NABARD.Referring to other road projects, he said that projects worth Rs 17.31 crore for widening and up-gradation of road stretch at Chanigund and Kaksar near the LoC and Rs 12.16 crore worth link road from Yulsum Karsha to Rhkongchet Zanskar have been sanctioned while as DPR preparation in respect of widening and up-gradation of link road at Broq Lungba Wakha, Sherling Wakha and Saraks Khangral at a cost of Rs 21 crores and Rs 18 crore Archoo Choskore is in the final stages.
Meanwhile, the Chairman took firsthand appraisal of people’s grievances and demands that included augmentation of drinking water facilities, widening and blacktopping of various link roads, installation of mobile towers, ground levelling, repair and renovation of irrigation canals and water reservoirs, establishment of trauma center at Darket, opening up of ration store at Tacha and other related issues.Responding to the public demands, the Chairman said that the present government is fully conscious of the aspirations of the people and all their genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner. He also gave on spot directions to the concerned officers for preparation of DPR for construction of Farka Khul at Darket besides asking the Chief Medical Officer Kargil to look for possibilities for the establishment of a Trauma Center at Darket besides other requisite works in the area.
He said that with a view to provide people of the area with better facilities of mobility, DPRs for the improvement of macadamization of link road from Tacha Karith to Shakar, water supply scheme at Skamboo, improvement and macadamization of link road and improvement of Soma Yurba khul at Skamboo are in the pipeline.Meanwhile, on the demand of locals, the Chairman announced to provide funds out of his CDF for ground levelling at community ground Skamboo and Community Assembly area Lotsum besides carrying out other construction works and provision of amenities in the area. The Chairman called upon the public representatives and the local people to work towards the progress and prosperity of the district.
