Land mafia in connivance with Revenue officials have reportedly encroached Custodian land at Dagpora Anchara area of Soura locality in the outskirts of Srinagar city. The locals alleged that the custodian land comprising 23 kanal 9 marlas was first occupied by land grabbers and later on it was sold to people who constructed residential houses on some parts of the land.We appeal anti-graft bodies including Crime Branch Kashmir and Vigilance Organization Kashmir to take suo motto cognizance of the issue and probe the shoddy dealings between land mafia and the Revenue officials,” a group of people told news agency CNS.Custodian Kashmir Bashir Ahmed Mir confirmed that they have already received a complaint two weeks ago in this regard. “Concerned Tehsildar was directed to submit a report with regard to revenue record. He was also directed to provide us the title of the land in question, but till date we haven’t received any report,” he said and added that Custodian Department will send another reminder to him.Mir said that if concerned Tehsildar fails to submit report on the second reminder, action will follow under law.He said that concerned Revenue Department was supposed to submit the records till November 11 but it didn’t do that.Meanwhile, concerned Tehsildar claimed that he has already directed the concerned Patwari to submit the report before the Custodian Department. “He might have submitted the records before the Custodian,” Tehsildar Syed Qaumuddin said. When contacted, Patwari Bashir Ahmed said that allegations about land grabbing are baseless. “It is all baseless and there is no truth in it,” he said.
