Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh today asked the R&B department to immediately prepare a detail project report for construction of road from Mahanpur bridge to Kuya village so that the residents of the area would have better road connectivity.This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the accompanying officers of Rural Development Department after assessing the development related issues of the people of Kuya village, here today.Choudhary Lal Singh informed the people that Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to improve the drinking water facility from Mashka to Satwahin village of Basholi tehsil. He issued on-the-spot directions to the Public Health Engineering Department to augment the drinking water facilities in areas with scarce water supply.He directed for installation of hand pumps, digging of deep drill tube wells and laying of water supply pipes upto tail areas of the Basohli town. He said the Government is committed to provide adequate drinking water supply to the people in every nook and corner especially hilly areas of the State. He said Government is making all out efforts to develop Basohli town with improved basic amenities.

The Minister asked the RDD officers to prepare DPRs of left out lanes, drains and interior areas link roads of Basholi town adding that Government is committed to provide modern line basic amenities to the people of Basholi at par with Jammu and Kathua city.Regarding upgardation of power infrastructure in Basholi town, he directed the PDD to upgrade the existing capacity of the transformers of the town so that improved power supply is provided to the people.Later, the Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of five PMGSY roads including 5.8 km Jandrota to Khrana road link to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.25 cr, 3.5 km Dhoura to Dhodla road link having estimated cost Rs 2.85 cr, 7 km Tikri to Jamna road link having estimated cost of Rs 5.68 cr, 4.5 km Patrera to Kashid with an estimated cost of Rs 4.56 cr and 3.4 km road link from Pepri to Khaddi to be completed with estimated cost of Rs 2.12 cr.The Minister said Rs 3600 crore PMGSY outlay for the State has been sanctioned for 10th stage which will improve rural road connectivity by providing all weather motarable roads. He added that several roads and bridges were taken up under Central Road Funds (CRF) which will help to give connectivity to uncovered habitations.

During his tour to Basholi, the Minister interacted with various deputations hailing from Hatt, Gadodi, Sheetalnagar, Kashid, Jandrota, Shara and gave patient hearing to their demands and problems. He passed directions to the officers to redress the issues projected by people related to the shortage of basic amenities.Ch Lal Singh gave a patient hearing to the public grievances and assured disposal of genuine demands in time bound manner. He directed the concerned officers to redress the demands highlighted by the people and issued strict instructions to all the field functionaries to mitigate the sufferings of the people on priority.Earlier, the Minister also distributed fair price shop licenses to the unemployed youth of Sabar and its adjoining villages. He also distributed Permanent Resident Certificates among the people of the Sabar village of Basholi.
