Research scholars from various Universities of Kashmir Wednesday staged a protest urging upon Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission to make amendments in the Rule 51 which according to protesting scholars is the biggest hurdle for them to secure jobs.Large number of Research scholars carrying placards and banners assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar.  “We are protesting against rule 51 of Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission for the appointment of Assistant Professors in Higher Education.A common screen test should be conducted for short listing candidates and due weightage should be given to candidates with higher degrees,” the protesting scholars told news agency CNS. They said that research publication should also be incorporated in short listing criteria while lower qualification should be scrapped. “The candidates with M.Phil and Phd degrees should be given due weightage and they should not be mixed with candidates with lower qualification. The condition of obtaining 55 minimum points under the current rule for becoming eligible for final selection is impractical and unrealistic,” they said.
