The Fortis Escorts Liver & Digestive Diseases Institute, New Delhi in collaboration with the Maxxlyfe Hospital, Jammu organized a CME here today to update the knowledge of local doctors in the field of liver related ailments and liver transplantation. Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat was chief guest whileas Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Ms. Asiea Naqash was guest of honor on the occasion.A large number of senior faculty Members from GMC, Jammu and  doctors participated in the event.Prominent liver transplantation expert and Chairman Advanced Institute of Liver & Bellary Sciences, Fortis Hospital,  Dr. Vivek Vij,  presented the detailed scenario on the liver transplantation and issues related to the liver ailments across the globe. He spoke in length and breadth on advancements in the field and updated the knowledge of local doctors. He also replied the queries of the doctors on the subject.Bali Bhagat appreciated the effort of the Fortis Escort Hospital for organizing such an informative event in Jammu and said that the move will go a long way in updating the knowledge of doctors of Jammu and Kashmir, which will help them to utilize the experience to ensure  best patient care in the State. He stressed the need for organizing such events regularly which provide opportunities to the budding doctors to gain latest innovations in the medical field.

Maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir is still lagging behind in such specialized treatment in its institutions and there is great need of such facilities as large number of patients suffering from such critical ailments have to move to outside for the treatment which involves lot of time and money. He appealed the private players, including Fortis Escort to set up their full-fledged set up in Jammu and Kashmir to provide succor to the patients. He said Government intends to promote the private sector in the medical field and all such private players are welcome here for which the Government will facilitate them . He also appreciated the move of Fortis Escort to start the OPD facilities at Jammu and said that this will greatly help the critical patients.Asiea Naqash also appreciated the move and called upon the local doctors to take advantage of the opportunity and make best use of the experience on ground. She said such progammes are must and need to be organized on regular basis. She said Jammu and Kashmir has lot of potential to expand the health sector and premier health providers must come forward and start their venture on PPP mode. She said Government is keen to promote the private sector, especially in health field.
