On the second day of his 4-day extensive tour of Zanskar Sub Division Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat today distributed 23 generator sets among the welfare societies and villagers of Farol Parkachik, Juldo Rangdum, Nearoq, Ruk Ruk, Giapak, Salapi, Stara, Teaser, Zangla, Kumik, Shilla, Shilla Foo, Padum, Yulsum, Sani, Ubraq, Pipcha, Raroo and Bardan purchased from the funds allotted from his CDF.The Chairman also distributed 10 solar water heaters among the villagers of Juldoo Rangdum besides 17 numbers of kitchen sets among the villagers of the women’s groups of Shakma Karpoo Padum, Nearoq, Giapak, Salapi, Stara, Zangla, Shillingskit, Shilla, Shilla Phoo, Karsha, Kesar, Rijing, Yulsum, Tungree, Ubaraq, Pipchaa and Raroo. The distribution of these articles fulfilled the commitments made by the Chairman to the people during his last visit of Zanskar Sub Division in July this year.The local people hailed the Chairman for making liberal funding out of his CDF for the construction of a number of community halls and other infrastructure besides the provision of generator and kitchen sets, solar water heaters and other amenities in the area. They also thanked him for visiting the area to ascertain the facts on ground and dedicating his energy and efforts for the people living in rural and remote villages of Zanskar sub division while expressing hope that similar kind of developmental initiatives would be carried out in the sub division in future also.

Earlier the Chairman also convened a meeting of the district and sub divisional officers to inquire about the supply and stock position of essential commodities and key construction materials in the sub division.Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSP Kargil Tsering Gyalpo, In Charge SDM Zanskar Tanveer Ahmad besides the officers of FCS&CA, Health, PWD, RD, Education and other concerned departments were present in the meeting.It was given out in the meeting that adequate quantity of rice, atta, kerosene oil and sugar has been dumped in different stores of the sub division besides directions have been given to issue ration to the public up to ending March 2018 in advance so as to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience during the winter season. The Chairman was further informed that stocking of around 90% quota of medicines has also been ensured at different health centres in the sub division. The Chairman was further informed that almost 92% of the key construction materials, fertilizers and other essentials have been stocked while as the remaining percentage of stocking is being done in vigorous manner.The Chairman while inquiring about the readiness of the district administration directed the Mechanical department to deploy dozers well in time for snow clearance operations. He also inquired about the functioning of the Haftal Hydel Project and the DG sets in various villages. It was given out that adequate stock of diesel is available while as 6 transformers are kept in buffer stock to meet power requirements during the winter time.Haji Anayat directed the In-charge SDM and other concerned officers to keep the civil helipad in all readiness and identify suitable place for dumping of fuel for smooth running of the civil helipad service between Kargil and Zanskar. He also issued on spot directions to the PWD authorities to ensure the availability of water tankers to meet the potable water requirements during the winter season.The Chairman exhorted upon the officers to speed up the stocking of the remaining quota of ration and other essentials well before the closing of the Zojila pass. He called upon the officers to work with added zeal and enthusiasm ensuring that there is no dearth of basic amenities to the people during the winter season.
